With any 1x11 setup there is just too much chainline variance to effectively eliminate the backpedal gear drop issue. That being said, it hasn't been an issue for me when riding at all. I have put the full XT 8000 1x11 through the paces on an enduro bike and an XC fs bike and haven't once had an issue from the chain being dropped in the rear.
My bike runs a 55mm chainline, but the math still works out. Since a boost chainline is 52mm for a 148mm rear hub (with a symmetrical rear end), my frame that uses a 148mm rear hub but offset 3mm to the drive side (52+3=55) still works well. It's pretty much equivalent to a 52mm chainline on a boost bike or a 49mm chainline on a non-boost bike.
